Privacy Policy

Seoul Boom shows live crowd levels for popular places in Seoul. It has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. This page explains the little data the app touches and where it goes.

What we collect

Data	Why	Where it stays
Your location	To show you on the map and sort places by distance. Only when you tap the location button.	On your device only. It is never sent to our server.
Push notification token + the place you are watching	To send a “it's quiet now” alert when you tap “Tell me when it gets quiet”.	On our server (Upstash, Vercel). Deleted after the alert is sent, when you stop the alert, or after 24 hours.
Your settings, saved plans and alert list	So the app remembers them.	On your device only.

The push token identifies an app install, not a person. We do not link it to your name, email or any other identity.

Services the app talks to

Seoul Open Data Plaza: crowd, weather and event data. Requests go through our server, so Seoul does not see your device.
Vercel: hosts our server. Like any web host it keeps short-lived request logs (such as IP address).
OpenStreetMap: map tiles are loaded directly from OpenStreetMap servers, which see your IP address.
MyMemory: event names are machine-translated. Only the event text is sent, never anything about you.
Apple Push Notification service: delivers alerts.
Naver Map, Kakao Map, Google Maps: opened only when you tap a directions button. Their own privacy policies apply from there.

What we don't do

No tracking across apps or websites.
No selling or sharing of data for advertising.
No collection of data from children.

Your choices

You can turn off location or notifications at any time in iPhone Settings → Seoul Boom. Stopping an alert in the app deletes its token from our server. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device.
