Frequently asked questions
Where does the crowd data come from?
From the real-time city data of Seoul Open Data Plaza, run by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. It estimates how many people are in each area, mostly from mobile network data, and updates every few minutes. Seoul Boom is an independent app and is not affiliated with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Why does every place say Quiet?
Late at night and early in the morning (Seoul time) most places really are quiet. Check the 12-hour forecast on each place to see when it gets busy.
How do "Tell me when it gets quiet" alerts work?
Tap the button on a place that is Moderate, Busy or Packed. We check every 10 minutes and send one notification when it calms down. Alerts expire after 24 hours. If you get nothing, make sure notifications are on in iPhone Settings → Seoul Boom.
How do I add a widget?
Touch and hold the Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap Edit → Add Widget, and search for Seoul Boom. To pin a place, touch and hold the widget and choose Edit Widget.
My location is not showing.
Allow location in iPhone Settings → Seoul Boom → Location → While Using the App. Your location stays on your device.
